A detoxification diet to lose belly fat can be very beneficial in aiding weight loss. I’ve done it several times with varying success, and here is how I did it. A couple of weeks before my diet, I ate an entire bag of raw almonds (which I hate!) and a glass of coconut milk.
Well, let me tell you that I did not lose belly fat during the three days of detox! But, I did experience a boost in energy (and even had a little jolt) throughout the detoxifying process. It was like a spiritual epiphany! So, if you want to lose belly fat during your detox, I highly recommend cleansing your body with raw almonds, a glass of coconut milk and/or detox water.
I usually take a detox water with a meal, but you can also add a detoxifying peppermint tea. This is the best option for me, and I alternate between a glass of coconut milk and a detox water throughout the day. You may find it more beneficial to take your own herbal tea with you or find one you enjoy drinking and make it part of your detoxing regimen. I also drink a bit of acai berry juice on the days when I don’t detoxify. Acai berry is another great choice. It’s loaded with important antioxidants and nutrients that help fight off free radicals.
The first thing you’ll need for your detox water is a quart-size container with a tightly sealed lid. It is not necessary to use sea or Epsom salts for your cleansing beverage. I suggest doing a quick search online to discover which ingredients are best for cleansing and losing toxins from your body. You can do a lot of research by reading product reviews. When shopping, I recommend only buying detox water in a quart-sized container or smaller if you are going to take it on an empty stomach.
You should bring a fresh glass of filtered water with you to any detoxification diet program. If you don’t have a filter for your drinking water, I highly recommend you get a single-stream filter that will provide you with purified water. Your other choices include using purified spring water, a multi-filtration system, or a filtered mineral water bottle. Bring along at least a quart-size container of coconut milk, a handful of raw almonds, and a couple handfuls of fresh, raw cucumbers. You’ll want to create a protein shake or a puree made of strained vegetables, which you can make at home.
Take a look at your pantry items list and eliminate all raw foods. Your best bets for protein are whey and egg whites, as well as some plant sources like nuts and seeds. To prep these foods, cut them into a handful or two and add to your table. You should also have one bowl of pureed vegetable soup on the go! For the first meal of the program, cut up several ripe, chopped, or sliced raw almonds and add to a large bowl. Over the next three days, replace one almond per meal and use the remaining almonds for a high-protein, low-sugar snack.
For meals two, take a half a cup of skim milk or coconut milk and replace one serving of the vegetable soup. For the third and final meal, substitute the vegetable soup for a high-temperature, low-fat canned chicken broth. If you feel like eating crackers, make your own by grinding a handful of cheddar cheese, chipping in pepper, and adding mayonnaise to the pot. Mix the contents of both pots together until smooth, then add in a generous helping of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, pepper, and a small amount of olive oil and heat up.
This is a simple plan that you can stick to without any disruptions or hitches in your weight loss efforts. If you do not lose the desired amount of weight on the first day, you can always add more vegetables to your diet or substitute some of the items listed above for other items that are higher in fiber and metabolism boosting properties. By being consistent with this plan, you will find that you have added several pounds of muscle mass, which makes carrying around all those extra pounds much easier. To recap: eat vegetables, lots of lean protein, and drink at least 8 full glasses of water each day for optimum weight loss.
